GI-ESCR participates in the Annual Global Conference on Extra-territorial Obligations (ETOs)
From 16 to 19 June 2022, the Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights participated to the annual global conference on Extraterritorial Obligations (ETOs) in Nurenberg, Germany. ETOs are the human rights obligations that States have beyond their national borders towards people living in other countries.
The global conference is organised by the ETOs Consortium for Human Rights Beyond Borders, of which GI-ESCR is a member. At the conference, Rossella De Falco, programme officer on the Right to Health at GI-ESCR, facilitated the thematic workshop on the Global Pandemic, coordinating a strategic discussion on how the ETOs consortium can address the extraterritorial human rights dimension of current challenges in realising the right to health amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rossella De Falco has also presented GI-ESCR’s advocacy, together with other partners, towards the key stakeholders of the company Électricité de France (EDF) to uphold their human rights obligations in the development of a wind-farm in Unión Hidalgo, Mexico, and include indigenous communities in the decision-making.
