With the support of the Permanent Missions of Belgium, Costa Rica, France, and Peru are pleased to invite you to an interactive webinar on:
“COVID-19 and the human rights of people living in poverty”
Monday, July 13th, 2020
15:00-16:30 CEST
The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented public health crisis, which has touched all countries in the world, regardless of their development status.
However, the pandemic has also revealed the widening inequalities in society: people living in poverty are not only exposed to a much greater risk of infection, but also bear the disproportionate brunt of the negative economic and social consequences of the pandemic.
The webinar will address the following questions:
How do the risk factors of COVID-19 affect different groups of people at higher risk of living in or falling into poverty?
What are the processes through which views and experiences of people in poverty could be reflected in policy measures designed to fight against COVID-19?
What measures can be implemented to support people living in poverty and social exclusion from the devastating economic and social impacts of COVID-19?
