GI-ESCR facilitated a Sharing Session on the Abidjan Principles in Practice
The Sharing Session that was organised on 18 October 2022 for members from PEHRC and the Réseau Francophone contre la marchandisation de l’éducation (Francophone Network against commercialisation of education) and interpreted in English and French, intended to share examples of how member organisations have been using the Abidjan Principles (AP) in practice.
The session was facilitated by Delphine Dorsi (RTE) and Juana Barragan Diaz (GI-ESCR), and contributors provided enriching examples on different levels of implementation, including:
Increasing institutional recognition for the APs
Expanding public and stakeholder awareness
Building capacity and providing technical assistance to support States
Conducting academic research in light of the APs
Promoting social accountability initiatives through monitoring, reporting, and advocacy
Pursuing formal accountability mechanisms and litigation
Collaborating with other actors and movements and making the APs accessible and visible to the general public
In addition, the publication of the new briefs on The Abidjan Principles, recently published by GI-ESCR, were announced during the Session:
