IACHR & OAS: Poverty, inequality and fiscal policies in the context of the pandemic in Latin America and the Caribbean
Magdalena Sepúlveda, GI-ESCR Executive Director, was invited as a panellist at a webinar organised by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) as part of its “Rapid and Integrated Response Coordination Unit for the COVID-19 pandemic crisis” (SACROI COVID-19).
The SACROI COVID 19 seeks to strengthen the IACHR’s institutional capacities for protecting and defending fundamental freedoms and human rights, especially the right to health and other environmental, social, cultural, and environmental rights
The aim of the webinar was to reflect about poverty, inequality, and fiscal policies in view of the impacts of the pandemic and the different measures adopted by the States. Magdalena focused on the disproportionate impact on the rights of women and girls and provided concrete fiscal policy recommendations.
