GI-ESCR participates at the World Urban Forum
The Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (GI-ESCR) participated at this year's World Urban Forum, held in Naples, Italy in from 2 to 6 September. The World Urban Forum is the major meeting put on every two years by UN Habitat and brings together thousands of persons from diverse backgrounds having an interest in improving human living conditions around the world. The theme of this year's Forum was The Urban Future.
The Global Initiative actively participated in several events, including as Master of Ceremonies for the Gender Assembly, presenter at the Gender Round Table, panelist on a session addressing the human right to sanitation, and at events focusing on security of tenure.
The Gender Assembly brought together UN Habitat partners to discuss progress and challenges on the implementation of the Gender Equality Action Plan as well as to inform the recently established Advisory Group on Gender Issues.
