Catch up on our discussion on housing rights and climate change: recording of the event available now!
On 05 October 2020 GI-ESCR and MISEREOR co-organised an online discussion on “Local struggles for housing rights in the context of climate change, urbanization and environmental degradation: How do we create “resilient” communities in the face of multiple crises, including COVID-19?" A recording of the event is now available!
The event brought together the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, UN Habitat, UNRISD and civil society to discuss how, across the world, the right to adequate housing is under pressure from climate change, urbanization and environmental degradation. It illuminated ground-level experiences from Peru and the Philippines and highlighted how community-led initiatives can protect communities and build their resilience to both the climate and environmental crises and pandemics.
