24 March 2021 | Join our virtual session on Universal Access to Healthcare: lessons learned from Public-Private Partnerships
This Wednesday 24 March 2021, Ahead of the World Bank – IMF 2021 Spring meetings, 7 CSOs including GI-ESCR are co-organising a virtual session on 'Universal Access to Healthcare: lessons learned from Public-Private Partnerships' to discuss the impacts of such partnerships in the health sector, including World Bank Group-supported projects, in a context where the pandemic has shed light on the consequences of underfunded public health systems.
In response to the global pandemic, international financial institutions and governments mobilised significant amounts of financial resources, while COVID-19 hit weak and under-funded public health systems around the world harder, and showed market failure in private healthcare.
What lessons shall we draw from this and what is the way forward?
As part of the Civil Society Policy Forum ahead of the 2021 World Bank – IMF 2021 Spring meetings, this interactive session will look at the impacts of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the health sector, including World Bank Group-supported projects, especially for women and the poorest communities. It will also share evidence-based views on the World Bank Group’s role in health systems strengthening to understand the extent to which it is addressing the most urgent needs.
