Advocacy Update on Rights to Housing, Land and Productive Resources and Other Emerging Issues Highlights from July - December 2014

This publication represents the third in our series of updates highlighting important advances in the areas of housing, land and access to productive resources.  It is meant to help inform advocates, policy makers, civil society organizations and other stakeholders about recent developments in the field, and draw attention to emerging areas of work.

This edition includes information related to the Special Rapporteurs on the right to adequate housing and on the rights to water and sanitation including an NGO consultation related to the priorities for the Special Rapporteur on the right to housing and a new resource on implementing the rights to water and sanitation; a new report on human rights related to land; litigation related to housing and land; groundbreaking Concluding Observations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights related to housing, water, sanitation and access to land; latest treaty-body pronouncements on women's rights to land and productive resources; and issues related to non-state actors, extra-territorial obligations, the World Bank's Safeguards review, human rights defenders, and the environment and climate change.   It also includes a special ‘IN FOCUS’ section, this edition on ‘Our Top 5 Priorities on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.’
