This 15 February 2021, ahead of the 46th session of the Human Rights Council, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland is holding a panel discussion on “A diverse world, universal human rights” which Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, GI-ESCR’s Executive Director, will attend as one of the five panelists. This important event is part of Finland’s campaign for its candidacy to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2022-2024. Improving early warning systems, women’s and girls’ rights, new technologies and digitalization, climate change and education will be the main topics of the debate, as issues of particular importance for Finland.
This panel debate is hosted by the Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Finland, Mr. Ville Skinnari.
Finland’s Prime Minister, Ms. Sanna Marin will open the event, followed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Mr. Pekka Haavisto.
