Promoting women's participation in the Chilean constitutional process

As part of our work to promote economic, social, cultural and environmental rights in the Chilean constitutional process, we built a feminist blog of collective elaboration, in alliance with civil society organizations at the local, national and global level, which makes visible the unequal impacts of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights for Chilean women, as well as the ways in which the new Constitution can improve their life experiences.

The initiative Más que Juanitas has to do with: "Mrs. Juanita", a metaphor rooted in the Chilean collective unconscious. It represents a universalization of the female political experience in Chile, an external and macho image of Chilean women on which norms, policies and "social aid" programs are built, and on which the political imaginary of all people is often centered. sectors.

Many organizations with long years of experience in feminism or social rights have joined Distrito Global, the GI-ESCR platform to disseminate the work of documentation, monitoring and advocacy in the advancement of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights in the Chilean constituent process, to share stories of women in Chile, with the aim of identifying the key elements to mainstream the gender approach in all social rights, thus contributing to the transformation of the ways in which these rights are understood and protected.
