Over 100 civil society organisations stand behind UN Special Rapporteur Léo Heller, denounce private water industry interference

On 21 October 2020, GI-ESCR — along with more than 120 civil society organisations — signed a statement issued in support of the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation, Mr. Léo Heller, and his report on the human rights risks of privatisation.

The joint statement is a recognition of the work that Mr. Heller has undertaken throughout his mandate, and of his work on privatisation. The signatories call for States to continue to uphold their obligation to fulfil the human rights of all people above any actors’ financial interests.
