Labour rights, corporate accountability and climate action: all in a year’s work for the Committee on Economic, Social & Cultural Rights. New CESCR YEARBOOK available now!

GI-ESCR's Yearbook of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) captures the full range of valuable work that this body has produced throughout the year. It serves as an important tool for civil society, human rights practitioners, academics, states, and anyone with an interest in the potential of human rights to tackle endemic problems of poverty, social injustice and inequality.

In 2019 the Committee engaged with a rich variety of topics which are central to contemporary struggles for a more just and equitable post-COVID future. Within the Yearbook you will find important human rights guidance on matters ranging from labour rights to austerity measures, corporate accountability, tax justice, gender discrimination and climate action. Following a bumper year for decisions under the Optional Protocol, you will also find analysis and case summaries to bring you up to date on the Committee’s jurisprudence.

The 2019 edition of the Yearbook is packed full of infographics, statistics and analysis. It also features a brand new design which will ensure that the work of the Committee is made as visible and accessible as possible.

We hope you enjoy reading it!

It is with joy and great satisfaction that we present the third Yearbook published by the
Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The undeniable importance of this
publication resides in its illumination of the various dimensions, facets and productions of the
Committee.
