Summary:
This decision affirms the obligation of the State to “respect the liberty of parents and guardians to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions” while administering courses related to religion or ethics in public schools. Thus, any module or subject related to religion and ethics, in public schools, should be administered in objective way and in a manner that is free from any bias. A provision shall also be made for non-discriminatory exemptions to uphold pupils’ right to freedoms of opinion, conscience and expression, and parents’ right to ensure the education of their children in conformity with their own convictions
